Capturing the Masters on Film

The American College

The American College is a non-profit educational institution with the highest level of academic accreditation dedicated to leadership in innovative training and development for financial services professionals.

Last year, David F. Woods, CLU®, ChFC®, LUTCF, had an idea: Assemble a team of financial services icons and interview them on camera about their careers, their philosophies, their lessons from past experiences and their thoughts on the future of our business. Document these priceless stories before they are lost. Share several lifetimes of expertise with financial services professionals at a time when they need guidance and leadership the most.

With the help of The American College, this idea became a reality. The influential individuals who can teach us the most about the challenges and opportunities of our profession have shared their stories in the Masters Series, a five-disc DVD box set available for purchase on The College’s website.

Woods conducted thought-provoking and insightful interviews with 17 industry leaders.

Highlights of the Masters Series include:

• The emotional story of why Maurice L. Stewart, CLU®, ChFC®, CLF®, chose to enter the life insurance business.

• The life lessons Marvin H. Feldman, CLU®, ChFC®, learned from his father, the financial services legend Ben Feldman.

• The compelling reasons why James M. Mitchell, CLU®, ChFC®, became a champion for ethics in the profession.

• The inspiring philosophy of William B. Wallace, CLU®, ChFC®, CAP®, who has funded the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) program at The American College.

“Every single person I interviewed is successful because of the difference they make in people’s lives,” said Woods. “After 50 years in the business, it was very validating to hear people who have been enormously successful and influential talk about things that I’ve always believed. They’ve made it where they are today because they are passionate about making a difference.”
